1 day.- ARRIVAL IN PERU. Arrival in Lima and transfer to hotel.
2 day.- LIMA / HUARAZ. Early in the morning we will board the vehicle to take us to Huaraz, travelling north along the Panamerican highway to Pativilca, where we will begin our gradual ascent to Huaraz (400 km). Overnight in hotel

3 día.- HUARAZ /CHAVIN DE HUANTAR/HUARAZ In the morning we will board our vehicle for the journey to Chavin de Huantar. After turning off the main highway at Catac we will travel past the Qerococha lagoon and cross the mountains via the Cahuish tunnel, before descending through the Conchucos valley along a narrow road to Huantar where we will visit the famous ruins of the Chavin culture, well known for its work in stone and ceramics (total distance including return journey: 250 km). Return to Huaraz in the afternoon.

| 4 day.- HUARAZ / LLANGANUCO LAGOON / CALLEJÓN DE HUAYLAS / HUARAZ. In the morning we will board our private vehicle for the journey to Yungay, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Callejon de Huaylas along the way and visiting the town of Yungay which was destroyed in the 1970s by a mudslide caused by an earthquake. From there we continue to the Llanganuco lagoon, nestled between the snowy peaks of Huandoy and Huascaran, which is the highest peak in Peru. The sheer walls of this lagoon are as visually spectacular as the turquoise colour of its waters. Return to Huaraz in the afternoon. |
5 day.- HUARAZ / TRUJILLO. We will board our vehicle in the early morning and head for the city of Trujillo, visiting the ruins of Sechin on the way and enjoying the spectacular scenery. On arriving at the Panamerican highway we will head north along the coast to Trujillo, the third largest and second most
industrialized city in Peru. Overnight in Trujillo, hotel accomodation.

6 day.- TRUJILLO. A day to visit the city of Trujillo’s famous archaeological attractions including Chan-Chan and the Temples of the Sun and the Moon, from the pre-Inca Chimu and Moche cultures. We will also visit the famous beaches of Huanchaco to see the traditional reed boats of the fishermen. Return and overnight in Trujillo.
7 day.- TRUJILLO / CHICLAYO / LIMA. In the morning we will board our private vehicle to travel to Chiclayo, visiting the Brujo temple and the Bruning Museum in Lambayeque to see the fabulous treasures of the Lord of Sipan. In Chiclayo we will be transferred to the airport for our flight to Lima. Overnight hotel in Lima.

8 day.- LIMA / PARACAS. We will travel south along the Panamerican Highway to the Paracas National Park where we will visit its small fishing ports, seeing seals and the dramatic desert landscape of the area. Overnight in hotel. |
9 day.- PARACAS / NAZCA. We will be transferred in the early morning to the port from where we will take the boat to the BallestasIslands, famous for their guano production and their abundant wildlife which has given them the name of the Peruvian Galápagos. We will see sea lions, seals, cormorants, gulls, Humboldt penguins and many other species. After a two hour visit we will continue our journey to Nazca, visiting the regional museum at Ica and the oasis of Huacachina on the way. Overnight in Nazca.

10 day.- NAZCA / AREQUIPA. Depending on the weather
we will take an early morning flight over the Nazca lines (optional) before driving the 600 km south to Arequipa. Six or seven hours into our journey we will begin to climb up into the Peruvian Andes, arriving in Arequipa (2,400 metres) in the late afternoon. Overnight in hotel.
11 day.- AREQUIPA / JULIACA / PUNO. In the morning we will visit Peru’s second largest city, including the Santa Catalina convent, the Cathedral and the Jesuit church, as well as the modern city surrounded by fertile fields, high desert and the Andes mountains. In the afternoon we will transfer to Arequipa airport for our flight to Juliaca, from where we will be taken by bus to the lakeside city of Puno. Arrival and overnight

in Puno.

12 day.- UROS / TAQUILE. We will be transferred to the port in the early morning to take the boat across the lake to the island of Taquile. On the way we will visit the floating Uros islands. Lake Titicaca, at 3,800 metres above sea level, is considered the highest
sailable
lake in the world. Taquile island is famous for its living tradition. Its inhabitants have maintained their culture since the time of the Incas. The views of the Andes across the great lake are spectecular. Return to hotel in Puno.
13 day.- PUNO / CUSCO In the morning we will board our bus to drive to the imperial city of Cusco visiting on the way the ruins of Pucara from the pre-Inca
civilization
of the same name. After crossing the high pass at La Raya (4,328 metres above sea level) we will begin our descent into the fertile valleys that surround the city of Cusco. On our way to Cusco we will visit the Inca ruins near Raqchi of the creator god Wiracocha. Overnight in Cusco. |
14 day.- CUSCO CITY TOUR AND FOUR RUINS In the morning we will visit the famous Inca capital, including its colonial churches and the Temple of the Sun, better known as Q’oricancha. We will also take a walking tour to the old residential district of San Blas, which is renowned for its craftsmen. In the afternoon we will visit the famous fortress of Sacsayhuaman, as well as the archaeological sites of Q’enko, Pucapucara and Tambo Machay. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

15 day.- CUSCO / MACHUPICCHU / OVERNIGHT URUBAMBA. Early in the morning we will board the bus that will transfer us to San Pedro station where we will board the train to Machu Picchu. We will visit the ruins in the company of an expert guide before having some free time to visit the ruins individually. In the afternoon we will take the train as far as Ollantaytambo from where our private bus will take us to our hotel in Urubamba.

16 day.- SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS / CUSCO. We will board our private bus in the morning for an excursion to one of the most famous natural and archaeological attractions in Peru, the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Arriving in Ollantaytambo, 19 km from Urubamba, we will visit the famous fortress which remained unfinished at the time of the Spanish conquest. We will be able to observe the construction methods employed by the Incas when building their temples and palaces. From Ollantaytambo we will drive through the valley to Pisac, where we will visit the colourful Andean market where locals trade their goods, as well as the Inca ruins high above the village. Overnight in Cusco.

17 day.- CUSCO / LIMA / CITY TOUR AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM / OUT In the morning we will board our flight to Lima where we will tour the city’s colonial and modern areas, visiting the cathedral, San Francisco convent and the Archaeological and Anthropological museum. We will then be transferred to Jorge Chavez International Airport for our flights to our home countries.
